Singapore's First Public Housing Estate Pool

Queenstown Swimming Complex opened on 15 August 1970, making it the first public swimming pool built in a housing estate in Singapore. It was a milestone in the nation's early push to bring recreational facilities into the heart of residential neighbourhoods.

The complex quickly became a centre for competitive aquatics. It was the training ground for the Singapore national water polo team and home to the Queenstown Water Polo Club. The 25-metre diving pool - with platforms at 1m, 3m, 5m and 10 metres and a depth of 4 metres - is one of the very few public diving facilities in Singapore.

Beyond water polo and diving, the complex housed a 50-metre competition pool, a teaching pool and a wading pool. For over five decades, it served generations of families in Queenstown, Commonwealth, Tanglin Halt and the surrounding estates.

The complex closed on 15 May 2023 for a comprehensive redevelopment. The renovation has been delayed from the original timeline and is now expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. The nearest open pools during the closure are Delta Swimming Complex (~2 km) and Clementi Swimming Complex (~4 km).
